Especially when various berries are added to them.
Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and no worries. You may not have known, but berries are a fruit that is jam-packed with nutrients and offer a range of health benefits. Berries are a superfood that packs a powerful punch of antioxidants and nutrients. They have been used in traditional medicines around the world to treat a variety of health conditions. A recent study found that blueberries have the most antioxidants of all fruits and vegetables surveyed.
The word berry comes from the Old English berie, which originally meant grape. For this reason, many native grape-shaped fruits that grew in bunches took on the berry suffix. But there are many plants that we did not know belonged to the same family. Even cucumbers and tomatoes are technically berries! Berries are loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. They are also great for weight loss because they contain low-calorie levels. Berries are healthy, especially when eaten in moderation.
They can be used to make desserts or mixed into smoothies. Berries are high in fiber which is very good for digestion and also helps to control blood sugar levels. The antioxidants, like Vitamin C, protect the body from oxidative stress and therefore help to prevent serious diseases like cancer.
Berries also contain phytochemicals that may offer protection against chronic diseases such as cancer or diabetes. They can boost brain power by preventing free radicals from damaging cells in the body. They’re also good for your skin due to the high levels of Vitamin C. Berries can be eaten raw or cooked and can be mixed with other fruit or vegetables for a healthy snack or dessert.
