If you’re a coffee lover, we bet it’s a huge part of your morning ritual… Some people like it black and simple, no sugar or milk, the others love to sweeten it or add some milk.
There are so many interesting things about coffee and we are sharing some of them with you.
Believe it or not, Scandinavians drink more coffee per head than anyone else.
In Ethiopia – the birthplace of Coffee Arabica, coffee is prepared as a part of village social ceremony three times a day – morning, noon and evening.
Italians love drinking their coffee by standing up at a bar, chatting with the barista or simply enjoying the moment. Cappuccino and other coffees that have milk in them are only acceptable in the morning, while (if you’re in Italy) you can enjoy espresso throughout the whole day (even later in the evening). This is because milk is considered too heavy to consume after a meal.
Turkish coffee is a whole other story. Turkish people have a proverb that says that coffee should be as black as hell, as strong as death and as sweet as love.
Espresso is the most popular coffee drink in the world. It’s prepared by forcing steam and nearly boiling water through finely ground coffee beans. Espresso is thicker than most types of coffee and it has a rich golden-brown cream on top.
Another popular coffee drink that comes from Italy is Latte macchiato. It’s prepared by gently pouring espresso into frothing milk.
Cappuccino is prepared with equal parts double espresso, steamed milk and steamed milk foam on top.
Supposedly, during World War II American soldiers used to dilute their Italian espresso coffee with hot water so it tasted more like the coffee they were drinking at home. That’s how Café Americano was born.
Caffellatte is similar to cappuccino, but it is usually prepared with three parts of steamed milk for one part of espresso.
The perfect summer drink for many people is Iced coffee. One of the ways of preparing it is by soaking coffee beans in water overnight and then serving this brew with milk, sugar, and ice. It has many delicious variants, so chocolate syrup, cream or ice cream can be added to an iced coffee.
